Welcome again ro the daily home-cooked food and delicacies with amezing flavors and taste..Well!! It’s the holiday season and basically a season of lots of veggies with so many varieties..So today the recipe I have brought is really simple but delicious..This gobi matar is one of the most common during winter season in Indian homes..Starting from packing it in tiffin boxes for school going children to lunch at homes, this never fails to impress us..well gobi is basically cauliflower and matar is green peas and when they both are combined it becomes gobi matar😅..It has a very moist texture..
To make this simple dish we need simple ingredients like the chopped cauliflower, green peas and some spices..The recipe J have brought today is the drier version of gobi matar but also there is another spicey and gravy gobi matar which also tastes super delicious and will soon be posting the recipe for that too..If you love the taste and texture of Indian food and dishes then don’t forget to try this simple recipe which is actually yummy..roll it with your roti/chapati/Flatbread or with daal rice , gobi matar is simply awesome..
Though with changing times we can have all the veggies available throughout the year but the taste we get when it is the season of that particular veggie, It taste alltogether different..Cauliflower can also be used in mix vegetable curry, veg biryani, gobi palak,and is basically a multipurpose vegetable that can be mixed with any other veggies..So I m super excited to share the dishes made out of gobi/cauliflower..So let’s start making the gobi matar by quick listing the ingredients.
1 medium sized gobi/cauliflower chopped into small pieces
1/2 cup green peas/matar
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 and 1/2 table spoon coriander powder
4 table spoon mustard oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Salt to taste
So these are the only ingredients I have used which is easily available in our kitchen.
Start by putting an oval pan/kadhai on the gas..add oil..let the oil be hot..as mustard oil has a strong fragrance, to avoid the sharp flavor , cook the oil well first and for that make sure to let it be hot until the bubbles that is formed almost disappears..then add the mustard seeds, let it pop, now add the chopped gobi and green peas. Use a spatula to mix the veggie..Now add the turmeric powder and salt..mix well.
Cook for three ro 4 minutes and then add the chilli powder and coriander powder..
Mix well..Cook in high flame until it turns light golden from the edges..Now switch down the flame and close the lid to let it cook until it turns soft to press..make sure to flip the veggies in between for an even rost and texture..As soon as it turns soft, switch off the gas and Now the the yummy is all ready..you can garnish it with some fresh dhania patta/parsley leaves..I have not garnished because it was not available in my kitchen that moment..enjoy yum and simple gobi matar and don’t forget to share your recipe cause even if the same spices used the taste are different because the method of cooking might differ.
