How to make idli at home

Idli making is a simple process and can taste absolutely delicious when prepared the right way.This steamed Indian breakfast is considered as one of the healthiest Indian breakfast.When followed few simple steps,it can can turn out super fluffy and soft.

Ingredients

2 cups of rice

2 cups of split black gram

These two ingredients are used to make fluffy idli.There are no baking soda or sodium bicarbonate used.

Direction

Take a bowl, simply put the rice and the split black gram(urad dal).wash off well.Make sure to soak it 5 hours before preparing the idli batter.After soaking it well, grind the batter using mixer grinder.Make sure to not add too much water and let it be semi thick.Make the batter polished and not granular.

Now put the batter for fermentation over night.The next morning you could see the batter bubbling and well fermented.And that’s the first sign of a fluffier idli.Now add salt into the batter and mix nicely.

Now put the idli steamer on the gas,take the idli molds,grease each section with a bit of oil and pour the batter according to the size of your mold.Steam for 10 minutes each time and also you can check if the idlis are well cooked by putting a toothpick.Cook for few minutes more if necessary.
