How to make khandvi /Gujrati khandvi recipe

This is a very delicious Gujrati khadvi recipe made in a very easy way..

khandvi is a very popular snack item from Gujrat,India..It is one of the most famous and delicious snack in gujrat and is made using very simple ingredients in the kitchen..It is made using gram flour that is besan, curd and some very easily available spices ..Basically its a 15 minutes recipe but simple to make..

Have you ever tried khandvi, if not, then do try its yummy snack and which also contains very less amount of oil, that is the only oil used for tadka.A very thick batter is made out of the mixture of gram flour, curd and spices and then it is being spreaded into thin layer, then rolling it out, by giving long cuts..It is soft, delicious and silky to bite.

The bright and and beautiful yellow color comes because of turmeric.The way it looks, it also tastes nice too.So, let’s start making the delicious khandvi.


3/4 cup of besan

3/4 cup of fresh curd

1 and 1/2 cup water

1 tea spoon chilli powder

1/3 tea spoon turmeric powder

1 and 1/2 tea spoon salt

1 tea spoon mustard seeds

small chopped curry leaves

2 table spoon oil





To make khandvi, simply take a bowl, add gram flour,curd, water,salt,turmeric powder and chilli powder..mix well using a hand blender to make a lump free batter..keep mixing clock wise for 3 minutes..

mix the battery well for a lump free texture.

Now take a oval pan/kadhai..put it on high flame..pour all the batter into it..keep stirring..lower the flame to medium and keep stirring to make a thick paste out of it..you will soon see the mixture starts to thicken..don’t hurry,keep mixing for a smooth and thick texture..It will take six to seven minutes..make sure to cook in medium flame to cook the batter well..It will start to thicken soon.

The batter is almost about be done

when it becomes a paste, simply pour the mixture using a table spoon on the back of a still plate..don’t put too much at once..spread it using the spoon into a thin layer..


A thin layer has been dpreaded on the backside of a still plate..



Now wait for 3 to 4 minutes for an easy roll..then give long cuts to roll well..Now roll each long layers gently..Don’t hurry it will come out smooth.

Now take a oval spoon..add oil in that..heat in medium flame..add mustard seeds and curry leaves..as soon as the seeds pops..switch off the gas and pour some amounts of the mixture all over the khandvi rolls using a spoon..Grab this delicacy with your favorite chutney or sauce or all alone..its a yumm. Enjoy.
