Welcome back to the veg recipe hub..The recipes for all the home-cooked delicious Indian dishes..Today I have brought a simple and yummy snack recipe which is called as besan chilla, also you can call it as gramflour pancakes..It is one of the quickest snack recipe when you are tired enough to make a complicated one..If you are not fond of oily and deep fried snacks you can try on this pancake which is made using lesser oil..
Chilla is basically pancakes and there are so many varieties comes under this food type..Besan chilla is one of the quick to make snack, you can have in your breakfast..The texture is soft to bite, you can add more veggies like finely chopped carrots and some capsicum..I have only used onion to give it a solo taste without mixing it with so many flavors..In our childhood times my mother used to make this quick dish on our spontaneous demand to eat something delicious and since then the idea has never changed..
So, let’s start making besan chilla by listing the ingredients first.
1. 2 cups of gram flour
2. 1/2 cup curd
3. 1 cup long chopped onion slices
4. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
5. 1 teaspoon carrom seeds
6. 1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt
7. Water as required
Start the process by making a semi thick batter using the ingredients listed above.Take a container, add gram flour,curd,chopped onions,salt,chili powder and carrom seeds..mix well using a hand blender or oval spoon..now add water slowly to make a semi thick batter..
Mix the ingredients well to make it lump free..Now take a flat pan.heat in medium flame for just 2 minutes..then add the batter by spreading gently into pancake shape..
Now add 1 tablespoon of oil around the chilla and also on top of it..now lower the flame to not overcook it..flip gently after two minutes and repeat the same oiling process..cook in low flame to make it soft golden from both the sides which is equally important.
As you can see in the above pictures the pancake has been roasted nicely into soft golden brown..Now remove it to a plate and spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon tomato sauce..sprinkle some finely chopped green chillies on top and cut into slices..Yummy!!this is just super delicious..try on this yum, must share how it tastes to you.
