How to make bhindi masala/spicey okra recipe

Hello everyone..welcome to the great food recipes made in simplest ways possible and the delicacy hidden in home-cooked meals and food..Today I have brought a very delicious and yummy spicy okra recipe which is well known as masala bhindi and it is one of the most loved veggie in Indian homes..The taste is absolutely delicious and the spices added are easily available..

There are different ways of making this delicious bhindi masala, the one I have brought is really simple to cook and authentic in taste.. As we all know India is full of spices and herbs and we all love to include it in our food to get the right taste and flavor..Okra is one of the most loved veggie but it is mostly cooked as a dry curry because it has a very slimy property which comes out when it comes in contact with water while cooking..So the foremost thing while cooking bhindi/Okra is to wash it off and then mop it with a cotton cloth before chopping it..There are varieties of dishes are being prepared with this amazing vegetable like the tomato bhindi,kurkura bhindi,masala bhindi,bhindi bharma and many other..Today’s recipe is simple, if you want to give your food a delicious touch of spice and yum, don’t forget to try on this delicious recipe..




Let’s start making masala bhindi/spicy okra by listing the ingredients first:-

20 long chopped okra by slitting it from the middle

1 small chopped onions to blend with the spices well

1 and 1/2 tea spoon chilli powder

1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder

1 and 1/2 table spoon coriander powder

1 table spoon gram flour/besan

(Adding gramflour gives it a very authentic taste and also it mixes with the spices well to let the bhindi absorb it well)

1 and 1/2 tea spoon salt

1 tea spoon mustard seeds

4 table spoon oil





So, to make delicious Masala bhindi, chop the okra/bhindi into long pieces after washing and dry mopping it well..Now put it in a bowl, add chopped onions and all the spices like the chilli powder, turmeric powder,coriander powder and salt according to the ratio..mix well using hands or a spoon..The only reason to premix the spices is for an easy cooking..

Here I have put all the spices all over the bhindi/okra to premix it for an easy cooking..Now put a pan on the gas…heat it on high flame..now add oil..let it be hot but not too hot..now add the mustard seeds..let it pop well..now put all the mixture of okra and spices..mix well using a spatula..then add the gram flour according to the quantity mentioned..mix well..cook in high flame for atleast 4 to 5 minutes to roast the spices well by flipping it time to time..



Now after cooking 4 minutes in high flame lower the flame and close the lid until the okra becomes really soft to touch..but don’t forget to flip in between to avoid overlooking it..okra squeezes in texture when it gets cooked really well..so cook in low flame for atheast 6 to 7 minutes and if it seems necessary to cook more..cook for 3 to 4 minute more..The onions in between each bite gives a very delicious taste and you can see how delicious it looks..So if you like okra and search for different ways to cook it then don’t forget to try on this yum.
