Let’s prepare onion tadka dal quick by listing the key ingredients first-

1 and 1/2 cup soaked split peas/arhar dal(soaked for 1/2 an hour before cooking)
3 slice chopped onions
1 tablespoon grated ginger
8 to 10 chopped curry leaves
1/3 teaspoon asafoetida/hing
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
3 to 4 finely chopped green chilli
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
3 tablespoon oil
Directions
Start the process of making onion dal tadka by washing off the soaked split peas well.Put it in a pressure cooker and add turmeric powder.Add 1 and 1/2 cup water and put it for boiling by ging the lid.Let it whistle for 3 times.Switch off the gas and wait until it cools down.
Now put a kadhai/pan on the gas.Add oil,let it be hot and then add the cumin seeds,ginger, curry leaves and asafoetida.
Mix well for few seconds in medium flame.Now add the coopped onions and chopped green chillies.Mix well and cook until it turns soft golden.
Cook in low to medium flame to make the onions golden in color.As it takes the desired texture,put the boiled split peas and stir well.Add salt and 1/2 cup more water to boil it for another few minutes.So that the flavor comes out really well.Boil in medium flame.
And this delicious onion tadka dal is ready.Now take a tadka spoon, put on medium flame and add the butter.let it be warn and then add the chilli powder.Stir gently and pour in top of the dal.
