Welcome to the kitchen of delicious vegan dishes, tastes and flavors of India..If you ever surf through internet about delicious vegan options then don’t forget to stop by here…Today I have brought a very special and yummy recipe Special because It is my favorite and delicious because if you are a fan of green gram then don’t miss out on this recipe…I have learnt this recipe from my mom who of course cook great food..Coming to green gram it is one of the most nutritious and rich in protein..It is cooked in so many different ways and each of them has a very special flavor and taste.
The recipe I have brought today is simple to make..Actually I should be captioning it as green gram onion tadka because a very good quantity of onions used in it..well coming back to the spices added, the spices are simple and easily available in the kitchen.Though the process of making this green moong tadka is simple but to get the correct texture, you have to soak it up for atleast 3 to 4 hours..
The taste is absolutely yum..If anyday you feel to have a change in food and think of something different other than the regular lentils ,then don’t forget to cook this yum yum..you can have it with rice or roti/tortilla..In my family we mostly cook this during the dinner time with chapati..Every spoon of this green gram tadka is yummy with onion flakes..The texture is not too runny but I would say, it is on the thicker side..So without much a do, let’s cook green moong/gram tadka which is a very famous and tasty Indian dish by listing the ungridients first..but before that let me tell you, everyone has their own ways of cooking tadka and each one of them tastes really different..I would like to know more about the other recipes too..😊
2 cups of green gram/green moong
2 cups of sliced chopped onions
1 small tomato
1 table spoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 table spoon salt/according to taste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
3 table spoon mustard oil
1 table spoon butter(optional)
Firstly soak green gram 2 to 3 hours before cooking for the correct texture..After that wash it off well..Put it in a pressure cooker and double the water to get it cooked well..add salt and turmeric powder in the same..Now let it whistle for 5 to 6 times to boil it well…As soon as the whistle settles, open the lid and check the consistency of the green gram..
Now add water according to the thickness of boiled green gram..Then put a pan on the gas. Let it be hot..add mustard oil..I used mustard oil for a warm flavor of mustard..let the oil be realy hot..then add the cumin seeds..let it pop and now put the chopped onions and tomatoes..mix well..also add the grated ginger..
Now add all the spices like the turmeric powder and chilli powder..mix well and cook in medium flame until the tomatoes become soft and onions become light golden.
Now add some salt too .like 1/2 teaspoon in this mixture.. mix well and pour the cooked green gram..stir good..cook for 3 minutes in high flame to let it absorb all the spices well..You can put 2 cubes of butter on top for an extra cheesy taste..and now the super yummy green gram tadka all set to be grabed😋😋taste the yum and stay tuned for more yummy and mouthwatering recipes..
